Ant Financial, an affiliate of e-commerce giant Alibaba, on Tuesday announced a partnership with local Chinese authorities to use blockchain in an attempt to prevent counterfeit products entering the market. The company is all set to launch its own blockchain-as-a-service platform next month, alongside a rice-tracking application that is intended to put a lid on the increasing cases of food fraud.The firm announced on Tuesday that it has partnered with the municipal government of the Chinese city of Wuchang to deploy a consortium blockchain for tracking the entire production process of locally grown rice in the province. CheapAir, an American online travel agency, has dropped a message for its customers, letting them know about a major cyber threat that demanded a ransom of almost $10,000 in Bitcoin. Coinbase poll shows students signing up for crypto-related courses on the rise

A new Coinbase survey indicates that the number of students interested in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology is on the rise. The survey conducted on 675 US students showed that students across all majors have an interest in the blockchain technology, some of them own cryptocurrencies, and some of them have signed up for classes on this novel concept. Alongside the survey, Coinbase also studied top 50 universities of the world, ranked by U.S News and World Report, and found that 42% of top 50 universities offered at least one course on cryptocurrency or Blockchain.
