South Korean smartphone giant, Samsung has finally unveiled its much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S10. It has been officially confirmed that this new model of Samsung will, in fact, feature an integrated cryptocurrency wallet.

Yesterday, the new Samsung smartphone that was launched in Seoul, San Francisco, and London revealed the latest model has Samsung Knox, a secure storage solution to hold private keys of cryptocurrencies. Anyone who owns a Samsung Galaxy S10 will essentially have a hardware wallet. In its official release, it has been mentioned,

“Security: Galaxy S10 is built with defense-grade Samsung Knox, as well as a secure storage backed by hardware, which houses your private keys for blockchain-enabled mobile services.”

However, it is yet to be known if the device will feature a full scale wallet as had been rumoured or will just provide storage for the private keys.

But it comes at a price as,

“Pricing starts at $899.99 for Galaxy S10, $999.99 for Galaxy S10+ and $749.99 for Galaxy S10e for both carrier and unlocked versions.”

Most Bullish Case For 2019

Last month, ahead of the phone’s release, the leaked images surfaced that featured an Ethereum wallet option in “supported cryptocurrencies” section, with bitcoin wallet included in the graphics as well. However, at the press release, no such wallet has been mentioned rather indicates towards an all-encompassing cryptocurrency.

This is not the first major smartphone to implement crypto-related features in smartphones. Last year, in May, HTC unveiled its first native blockchain phone called HTC Exodus that will be launching with support for multiple blockchains involving Bitcoin and Ethereum with Brave as its default browser. Last year in December, Sirin Labs also launched the world’s first blockchain smartphone called Finney.

However, Samsung will be the first major company to integrate crypto support in its leading device. This has the crypto community excited as this is a huge mainstream Bitcoin and crypto adoption and it is expected that soon other companies will be following suit. This is characterized as one of the most bullish news of 2019.

It’s Not All!

Support for blockchain application wasn’t the only prominent feature announced by Samsung as Justin Denison, the Samsung SVP also announced the Galaxy fold, confirming the rumors. As the name suggests, this phone can fold in half, that’s right.

The opened up device has a 7.3 inch display with three-app multitasking while folded, it is like any other standard mobile device with a 4.6 inch display. But this will dig even deeper into your pocket, costing over a thousand dollar than the regular S10, at $1,980.
